Attorney
Maria T. Miranda-Rodriguez, Esq. was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, and raised in San Germán, where her interest in the law was nurtured from an early age within a large family committed to service and strong ethical values. She went on to earn a B.A. in Political Science from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in San Germán and a Juris Doctor from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce, laying the academic foundation for a lifelong career in public service and advocacy. Throughout her career, she remained deeply rooted in her Puerto Rican identity and her vocation to defend those who are most vulnerable.
With over 30 years of litigation experience, Maria built a distinguished record as an Assistant Prosecutor Attorney at the Puerto Rico Department of Justice, particularly within the Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Unit in Ponce. She led complex felony jury trials involving homicide, sex crimes, domestic violence, and child abuse, supervising crime scene and death investigations, and coordinating specialized criminal units. Known for her meticulous preparation and trial skills, she achieved notable conviction rates in murder cases and was repeatedly entrusted with high-profile prosecutions due to her unwavering commitment to seeing that justice is done.
From the beginning of her career representing indigent defendants at the Legal Aid Society to her later work prosecuting violent crimes and sex offenses, Maria consistently fought for victims, the defenseless, and those with the least access to justice. Today, as a dedicated bilingual immigration attorney and former criminal prosecutor, she continues this mission by representing immigrants in removal proceedings, asylum cases, and other complex matters before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, ensuring that every client is heard, protected, and vigorously represented. Her professional journey reflects a steadfast devotion to dignity, fairness, and service to the most vulnerable members of society.
