Celeste Acevedo

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, on the U.S.-Mexico border, Celeste Acevedo brings deep personal and professional insight and expertise to her role as an immigration attorney at Sanabria & Associates. A first-generation attorney and the granddaughter of four Mexican immigrants, Acevedo is driven by a lifelong commitment to serving communities like the one that shaped her.

Acevedo earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso before completing her Doctor of Jurisprudence at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. During law school and post‑graduation, she gained extensive experience through externships with organizations dedicated to civil rights and public service, including the Ohio State House of Representatives, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the Public Rights Project, and the United States Senate. She also served on the Student Bar Association as Diversity and Inclusion Co‑Chair and Appointments committee. Outside of school, Acevedo contributed to the National Lawyers Guild’s efforts to protect First Amendment rights.

Following graduation, Acevedo joined the legislative staff of U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro. As Legislative Counsel, she advised on a wide range of policy issues, with a strong emphasis on immigration. She played a key role in advancing Congressman Castro’s efforts to defend immigrant communities and hold federal and state agencies accountable for abuses of power.

Today, Acevedo leverages her policy background, legal training, and lived experience to advocate for immigrants navigating complex legal systems. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, effective representation to individuals and families seeking safety, stability, and opportunity in the United States.

Outside of her work, Acevedo enjoys visiting the beach, spending time with her loved ones, exercising, and making bag charms.
